Dillon’s Spooky Encounters
Share
Y'all, this week's episode is a special one because these are Dillon’s stories. And if you know anything about my husband, you know he is the biggest skeptic I know. Bigfoot? Mothman? He'll roll his eyes clean out of his head. Which is exactly why these stories are so crazy, because they're coming from the man who doesn't believe in "anything."
We sat down for our Spooky Appalachia series and I got him to tell the ones he still can't explain.
The Barefoot Tracks
Dillon was hiking miles from the main road, no real trail, no swimming hole, no reason for another soul to be out there. Halfway down, he starts finding fresh deer tracks behind him. Fresh, like something had been following him in. Then the deer tracks just... stop. And where they stop, barefoot human tracks begin. Small ones, child or small-woman sized. Miles from the road.
Then he starts hearing people talking. Loud, but like gibberish or like another language. He never sees a single person. No other vehicles in the parking lot when he gets back down.
Y'all.

The Bear That Wasn't There
Dillon is sitting in the woods, broad daylight, watching a block of trees. Out of nowhere there's a bear, 70 yards out, and he never saw it come in. Never heard it either. It's just there, huffing with its tongue hanging out like it ran a long way. He watches it through his scope, trying to figure out how it got there without him seeing...
And then it's gone. Vanished from behind a tree.
His theory? It must have walked a dead-straight, foot-wide line right past his eyes without him noticing. My theory? Portals in the woods. (He disagrees. He's wrong.)
There's More Where That Came From
The guttural sound he's never heard before or since. The night he was sixteen, out hunting alone for the very first time with two hounds and no GPS, when things went sideways fast. You'll have to hear those from him.
